Teaching smart products

Learn how to connect your smart products to a Zigbee gateway or other control unit here.

Connect

In order for Zigbee products to be connected to a Gateway or other control unit, they must first be set to connectors mode. For new products, it is usually sufficient to simply switch them on.

If the products were already connected to another control unit - for example another Zigbee gateway or a remote control - they must first be reset before they can be taught in again.

Resetting smart Paulmann lighting products

  1. Switch on the device.
  2. Switch the power supply off and on again five times in succession. Switch off for 2-3 seconds and leave on for 1-2 seconds each time.
  3. After a successful reset, the light now pulses for about 10 seconds and switches on to 100% brightness.
  4. If the confirmation flash is not visible, the process was not successful → Please perform the reset again, if possible during the search process of the control unit.

After resetting, the light is in connection mode for about three minutes. During this time, the light can be connected to a control device. The connected mode is restarted by resetting the light again.

Resetting smart accessories from Paulmann

There are product-specific reset methods for Paulmann accessories such as switches, remote controls, plugs and sensors. These can be found in the corresponding instructions on the respective product pages.

For Zigbee products from other manufacturers, the reset instructions provided by the manufacturer apply.
