To prevent insects from dying due to blue and white LED light outdoors, you can use luminaires with gold light to illuminate your garden. From to a colour temperature of 2200 K and below, insects are barely affected by artificial light sources. The insect-friendly luminaires with a colour temperature of 2200 K or less are therefore much friendlier to insects – while ensuring safety and creating a cosy atmosphere in your outdoor spaces.
Active protection of insects through conscious use of light colour
When outdoor lighting is colder, brighter and more widely scattered, more insects are drawn to the light and consequently killed. To prevent this and help actively protect insects, you can use outdoor luminaires with 1500–2200 K in your garden. This colour temperature is barely visible to insects, meaning they are less attracted by the light source.
Three different options for insect-friendly light outdoors:
Option 1
Cosy and insect-friendly evening light with a tunable warm function
Luminaires equipped with the tunable warm function allow you to freely adjust the light colour and brightness of your luminaires for continuous operation. For example, when darkness falls, the luminaires can be set to 20% brightness and a colour temperature of 2200 K. Thanks to the integrated motion sensor, the light is restored to 100% brightness and a light colour of 3000 K when needed. The tunable warm function can also be used without a gateway by controlling the luminaires with the Paulmann Gent remote control, smart home apps or voice control such as Amazon Echo (Alexa).
Option 2
Automatic orientation light in the warm white and golden light range
The perfect combination between insect-friendly light and safety! When darkness falls, the outdoor luminaires switch to a basic setting at 20% brightness and a colour temperature of 2200 K. To prevent trips and falls on the way to the house or through the garden, the luminaires feature an integrated motion sensor that responds to movement by restoring the brightness to 100% and the colour temperature to 3000 K. After 30 seconds, the luminaires switch back to the basic setting automatically.
Option 3
Active protection of insects & a pleasant lighting atmosphere around the home
The golden light colour of the insect-friendly outdoor luminaires creates a cosy atmosphere like that of candlelight on your balcony or in your garden. They emit a light colour of 2200 K, allowing you to protect insects. Several of the luminaires are also equipped with a motion sensor.
