How to plan your URail system in 7 steps
1. What do you want to light up?
First, think about which areas you want to light – for example, the dining table, the kitchenette, the living area or individual pieces of furniture. This will help you work out how many lights you’ll need and where they should be positioned later.
2. Where is your power socket?
The ceiling power outlet is the starting point for your URail system. From there, you can run the rails through the room and direct the light exactly where you need it. With various power supply options, the system can be flexibly adapted to the layout of the room.
3. How should your track layout look?
Sketch out your room and mark in key areas such as furniture, the dining table or the kitchen island. Then plan the desired route for the rails. This will help you quickly identify the shape and dimensions of your System. If necessary, the rails can be cut to size at the Paulmann workshop.
4. Which rails and connectors do you need?
Measure the planned sections and check which connectors you need for your track layout. Depending on your plan, you can use straight, L-, t-connectors or x-connectors. A flex connector allows you to flexibly connect two rails together.
5. Which lights suit your room?
Choose your lights to suit the desired lighting effect. Spots provide targeted light in specific areas, pendant lights are particularly suitable for tables or kitchen islands, and panels ensure even illumination.
6. Is your system fully planned?
Finally, check that you’ve included all the necessary components in your plan: from the power supply, through the rails and connectors, right through to the lights and accessories. Do the rail layout and the positions of the lights match your vision? If so, your URail system is ready for installation. Don’t worry: you can expand your System or reposition lights at any time.
7. Your URail system is now ready for installation.
Once everything has been planned and all components are in place, your URail system can be installed. Secure the rails, fit the connectors and then position your lights where you need them. Always follow the relevant installation instructions.
...loosen the strain relief at the bottom on the opposite side, unscrew the terminal block indoors, disconnect the cables, pull them out and cut them to length. Strip the insulation from a further 2–3 cm of the cable (there are two wires inside: live (L) and neutral (N)). Crimp a wire end ferrule (

Then reinsert both cables into the terminal block and tighten the screws. Press the cover plate back together and screw it in place.
