Feel-good light colour
Colour temperature
What is meant by colour temperature?
Colour temperature tells you, whether an LED emits "warm" or "cool" light. In simple terms, the colour temperature of a lamp lets you know the colour of its light: from yellowish (warm) to bluish (cool).
Make sure you check the Kelvin value on the packaging before purchasing a lamp. Warm light colours will have a value between 2,700 and 3,300 K. Neutral white light comes in values between 3,300 and approx. 5,300 K. Bright shop lighting, where daylight white luminaires are used, reach values above 5,300 K.
The colour temperature of lamps has a similar effect on our well-being as sunlight.
The difference between "colour temperature" and actual "temperature"
Colour temperature has nothing to do with the temperature in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit. Think of it this way: the hotter the sun, the colder the colour temperature of light. Colour temperature therefore really describes the light colour and not heat.
How light colour affects our mood
- Daylight white: As the name suggests, this light is just like daylight at noon. Bright light has a positive effect on our well-being and helps us concentrate. That is why daylight white is ideal for work areas. Choose a lamp with more than 5,300 K to improve concentration and motivation at your workplace.
- Neutral White: This type of light creates “objective” lighting. A great choice for the kitchen or bathroom. Our products with a 3,300 to 5,300 K rating emit neutral white light.
- Warm White: This is the kind of light you would expect outdoors at sunset. The redder the light, the more relaxing it feels. We recommend lamps with a 2,700 to 3,000 K rating for relaxing hours at home.
