Recessed luminaires create an understated look and match virtually any interior theme. They allow you to focus your light on what's important or you can use clever light distribution to make small rooms appear larger. There is no limit to where LED recessed luminaires can be put to good use. They help you to create and realise your very own light concepts. Where you should buy your LED spots and which type would fit your lighting purposes best, will largely depend on the installation depth they need.
LED spots with replaceable GU10 lamps will need a cavity depth of at least 60 mm. A very special feature of the Paulmann recessed spotlights is that the replaceable LED coin modules only require a cavity depth of 30 mm. In effect, they can be used in ceilings with very little cavity depth, making their usability even greater. Many of our Paulmann LED recessed luminaires have a swivel function. In other words: you can direct the light wherever you want it.
In comparison with halogen spots, LED recessed spots have the added advantage of being super economical. Your wallet and the environment will thank you.
How do you install LED recessed luminaires and how do you connect them up?
Paulmann recessed luminaires give you the unique opportunity of creating bespoke lighting in all your rooms. You can have light exactly where you want it. There is also no limit to how many 230 V LED recessed spotlights you can install – plus: you won't even need a transformer. You will need a standard compass saw or a 68 mm core drill bit for ceiling installations. That is used for drilling a matching hole into the suspended ceiling.
The luminaire is then connected via a quick clip. You can link up any number of recessed spots. Simply insert the coin into the pre-drilled hole. A snap ring is not required for Paulmann LED spots.
Once the installation is complete, all internal technology and the cables for the recessed spots will disappear in the ceiling. All that remains visible is the front and the light emitter of the recessed spotlight. The retaining springs make the recessed luminaires easy to install and remove without damaging the bore edges.
How many LED recessed luminaires will I need?
It all depends on where you want to position your LED recessed luminaires and what their function will be. Different rooms have different lighting needs. You will need more light in the kitchen and bathroom than the living room and hallway. Other factors are the colour of your furniture, flooring and walls, as well as other light sources in the room, for example table lamps mirror luminaires.
Another important factor is the lumen value. Lumen (lm) is the unit of measure for luminous flux, meaning the brightness of the LED recessed luminaires. Lumen is a much better measure of brightness for a recessed luminaire than watt could ever be.
We recommend the following values for basic lighting:
• Living room / hallway 100 lm/m²
• Kitchen / bathroom 300 lm/m²
